Course Introduction

This course focuses on exploring the relationship between design, electronics and interactive devices, whilst gaining a deep understanding of the user experience and human behaviour. Students are encouraged to experiment with new technologies and develop a wide variety of skills that make them particularly valuable to industry.

Course Modules

Year 1: the essentials of design; effective communication and presentation skills; contextual studies and theory; methods of user'centred design research; prototyping physical products in software using programming; an introduction to electronics; physical interaction techniques. Year 2: user experience design; researching and designing services and processes; experimenting with physical interactive media through electronics and computer programming; games and toy design; digital advertising and promotions; entrepreneurship and enterprise. Year 3: major project; collaborative project; an advanced interactive electronics and programming project; an academic dissertation; a final industry'ready portfolio of work.
