Teaching for the social work programme takes place on the Avery Hill Campus in Eltham. The programme is based in the Faculty of Education and Health, giving access to a range of specialist lecturers who contribute to teaching. Lectures and seminars are supported by the Moodle virtual learning resource and through access to excellent online resources. The library is very well resourced with an extensive range of books, journals and E'books on social work and other related disciplines such as sociology, psychology, law, research, education, public health, disability, mental health and safeguarding. Students undertake their practice placements with vulnerable people from a range of groups and in a range of different settings. The programme has played a leading role in the development of Pan London placement procedures which are being introduced this year. Partnerships have been developed extensively with social work provider organisations. Expert practitioners regularly teach on the programme and lead workshops. Service user and carer involvement is a very strong aspect of the programme, with involvement in recruitment and selection, teaching, assessment, skills development and consultancy.
