This programme is for candidates who have some experience in the early years sector and wish to develop their knowledge and gain Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS). Early Years Teacher Status is the equivalent of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) for specialists in early childhood development. It is awarded to graduates who have been judged to have met all of the Teachers' Standards (Early Years) in practice from birth to 5 years old.
Modules include: leading and managing in early years; leadership and management in early years: working in a multi professional context; child development and learning: birth to 5 years; the child's lived experience: developing confident learners; mentor preparation for the children's workforce; keeping children safe from harm; early years teacher status portfolio of practice.
Course Additional Entry
An undergraduate degree in any subject; plus GSCEs at grade C or above in English, mathematics and science, or equivalent qualifications; candidates will be required to attend an interview; candidates need to pass pre'entry skills tests in numeracy and literacy before beginning the programme.
