Course Introduction

This postgraduate programme integrates the clinical, academic and research components of paediatric physiotherapy practice. The emphasis is on the management of paediatric patients with cardiorespiratory, neurological and musculoskeletal disorders. Flexibility in selection of modules allows for physiotherapists with particular interests to be accommodated.

Course Modules

Core modules: paediatric cardiorespiratory physiotherapy; paediatric musculoskeletal physiotherapy; paediatric neuro physiotherapy; physiotherapy research and dissemination; research methods and statistics; options: child development (inclusive approaches in global contexts); children in difficult circumstances; clinical knowledge and decision'making; disability and development; information law and governance in clinical practice; leadership and professional development; muscle and exercise physiology in health and disease; patient safety and clinical risk; respiration through life, health and disease.

Course Additional Entry

Normally a minimum of an upper 2nd Class UK Honours degree or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard in physiotherapy; or an approved diploma in physiotherapy together with evidence of appropriate clinical and/or teaching experience and a commitment to continuing professional development.
