Course Introduction

This programme centres around developing a strong practical portfolio ensuring our students leave with the ability to perform the very latest techniques to the highest standards. The programme aims to provide students with a broad overview of the field with a focus on applied aspects. Emphasis is on the ways in which knowledge of biotechnology and biochemistry may be applied for medical purposes. The programme offers extensive laboratory training through all years of the programme. This programme shares a common first year with other Bioscience degrees at UEL, leaving you an option to transfer to similar degree programmes at the end of the first year. The programme offers a double semester project Destinations of recent graduates include; laboratory'based work in hospitals, research institutes, industrial and pharmaceutical laboratories; Research and Development Consultant; higher degrees in Biochemistry (MSc, PhD); further study in other disciplines, e.g. MSc (e.g. IT; Business), MBA, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmacy; training as a teacher (e.g. PGCE programmes at UEL).
