Course Introduction

This LCF course is for students who want to be PR practitioners in the fast'moving global fashion industry. You will study the business of fashion and see how communications can impact a brand at every point of its operation. Topics covered will include information collection, analysis and management, research methods to develop consumer and market insights, developing innovative and creative cultures, including cultural change principles, organisation structure, change and development, and how global issues such as sustainability and corporate social responsibility are incorporated into global communications programmes. You will examine the different ways in which appropriate communications strategies can be employed, and this will enable you to select the most effective combination for any particular situation, from designer'driven start'ups to complex international matrix brands. You will be based in Lime Grove in Shepherd's Bush, just west of Holland Park and Notting Hill.

Course Modules

Year 1: Introduction to study in higher education (fashion public relations and communication); introduction to fashion communication; introduction to cultural and historical studies; understanding the fashion brand; creative media platforms. Year 2: Cultural and historical studies; crisis and reputation management; professional development (fashion public relations and communication); research methods for media; strategic communication planning. Year 3: Project proposal (fashion public relations and communication); cultural and historical studies dissertation; final major project.
