Course Introduction

'Learning while earning' is unique to London South Bank University ' no other Education Studies degrees offer this opportunity. The course is designed to appeal to teaching assistants and other professionals working in schools and educational settings who aspire to obtaining a degree and to progress to qualified teacher status. Studying for this degree will benefit you and your workplace by enhancing your professional expertise. Your manager will be required to release you from your work place one day a week and is likely to perceive the benefits to your educational setting of your participation in the course.

Course Modules

Year 1: what is education; study skills; constructing childhood; community family and children; language, literacy and learning; an introduction to education technology. Year 2: interpersonal interactions; developing mathematical thinking; barriers to learning; equality, culture and citizenship; alternative education setting placement Year 3: contemporary issues in education; creativity in education; assessment in education; project; contextualising education globally.
