This course provides a broad understanding of infectious diseases and is of particular relevance to in'service health professionals such as doctors or laboratory staff; students develop strategies for the control and treatment of infectious diseases, acquiring new knowledge and updating their current expertise.
Modules include: Principles of biostatistics and epidemiology; principles of biology; biology of infectious diseases; control of infectious diseases.
Course Additional Entry
Applicants require: a 1st or 2nd Class Honours degree, or the equivalent, from a university or other institution acceptable to the University of London, in a subject appropriate to the course; or an appropriate professional or technical qualification, together with at least 3 years' relevant experience, which satisfies the University as a qualification equivalent to a 2nd Class Honours degree (considered on an individual basis). Applicants who do not satisfy the above requirements may still be admitted at the discretion of the School on the basis of their academic qualifications, work experience and references; applicants without English as their 1st language must show they have passed 1 of the following tests within the previous 3 years: IELTS 7.0 with a minimum of 7 in written sub'test, or TOEFL paper'based test 600 or TOEFL computer'based test with a minimum of 5 in the test of written English, or TOEFL internet'based test 100 with a minimum of 24 in the test of written English.
