Course Introduction

This is a new course starting in September 2014. It is a 4 year Biological Sciences degree with a Placement Year undertaken between the second and third years

Course Modules

Year 1: systems and investigative biology; the living cell; the moving animal; inheritance, reproduction and development; basic concepts in immunology; problem definition and investigation; supervised science report. Year 2: the enemy within; the enemy without; pharmacology (principles and practice); from lab to market; research project. Year 3: placement year. Year 4: comparative animal locomotion; advanced skeletal pathobiology; advanced reproduction and development; animal behaviour and welfare; infection and immunity; advanced concepts in biobusiness; wild animal biology; parasitology of tropical human and veterinary disease; comparative models of diseases; endocrine and metabolic syndromes.
