The BA (Hons) Fashion Design programme offers the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in the competitive, fast'paced world of international fashion design. Our vibrant fashion department is situated at the heart of the London fashion industry. You will be taught by fashion professionals and academic specialists who reflect a wide range of contemporary fashion and current industry practice. In addition to being perfectly placed in a fashion capital of the world, you will benefit from small class sizes and quality individual contact time, frequent visiting speakers from industry and academia, fashion shows and fashion shoots, and our strong contacts with industry. You will also have the opportunity to study in Paris, to take part in live projects with industry, and to gain work experience with a fashion company in London.
Stage 1 (foundation): 3'd form 1; design process; drawing and design principles; fundamentals of colour; historical and contextual studies; sewing technique; plus general education courses. BA (Hons) year 1: 3'd form 2 and 3; body in culture; creative drape; portfolio 1; textiles for fashion. BA (Hons) year 2: CAD for fashion; internship or optional module; portfolio 2; styling fashion; womenswear 1 and 2; optional module. BA (Hons) year 3: collection project; design and sustainability; fashion collection 1'3; final fashion portfolio; menswear; thesis. Optional modules: accessories; design study; fashion events; fashion shows; fashion trends; retailing for fashion; study tour.
