Course Introduction

This course brings a cross'disciplinary focus to transport and urban planning which is unique, aiming to foster smart solutions to the current critical challenges of transitioning to sustainable travel behaviours and sustainable cities, in the UK and internationally. The programme draws on the latest thinking and debates in transport, urban planning and mega infrastructure project development.

Course Modules

Core modules: transport planning and the city; transport planning in emerging cities; sustainable urban development (key themes); sustainable urban development (project); mega infrastructures as agents of change; critical issues in mega infrastructure investments. Options: public transport; pillars of planning; international planning; sustainable property (valuation, investment and development); planning practices in Europe; urban problems and problematics; spatial planning; preparing regeneration projects; GI systems and science; data visualisation; the political ecology of environmental change; adapting cities to climate change in the global south.

Course Additional Entry

Normally a minimum of an upper 2nd Class Honours degree or other qualification of equivalent standard in urban planning, geography, engineering, transport planning, or related disciplines and/or related work experience.
