Course Introduction

This LCF course is for students who want to work in the fashion industry in the areas of visual merchandising and/or branding. You will explore all levels of the market, from value retailers to luxury design'led brands, and will acquire an understanding of consumers, and why they favour particular brands. You will learn about trend research, design development, store design and online visual merchandising, which will give you the professional skills to be a confident visual merchandiser across an omni'channel environment. You will develop your fashion and business skills and meet national and international industry professionals interacting with the course on projects, as visiting speakers, and through industrial visits. An optional placement year between the second and final year of the course enhances your employability through offering valuable experience and contacts. You will be based at John Prince's Street at Oxford Circus and High Holborn, adjacent to Lincoln's Inn Fields.

Course Modules

Year 1: Introduction to study in higher education (fashion visual merchandising and branding); principles of fashion visual merchandising; introduction to cultural and historical studies; principles of fashion branding; collaborative project. Year 2: Cultural and historical studies; designing the fashion store; research methods, consumer behaviour and psychology; visual brand communications; fashion visual merchandising and brand development project. Final year: Futures and innovation; fashion visual merchandising and branding strategy; final major project.
