Course Introduction

This LCF course prepares you for a career as a fashion stylist with an understanding and knowledge of the fast'changing area of production, with the new technologies and platforms that are being used now. This gives you two sets of distinct skills, and you will learn about this sector of the fashion industry and the position of the stylist and producer within it. You will learn research skills, which will underpin your creative practice and develop your analytical skills and critical awareness. Contact with industry throughout the course increases your options for employment after graduation, and you will be able to attend workshops to help you prepare for employment. You will undertake collaborative projects, which will emphasise the importance of teamwork, and you will also work independently to develop your skills and personal style in preparation for working in the industry. You will be based in Lime Grove in Shepherd's Bush, just west of Holland Park and Notting Hill.

Course Modules

Year 1: Introduction to study in higher education (fashion styling and production); key concepts in styling; introduction to cultural and historical studies; key concepts in production; collaborative practice (fashion spreads). Year 2: Cultural and historical studies; mediating fashion; professional development (fashion styling and production); research methods for fashion styling and production; style, genre, signature. Year 3: Concept development; cultural and historical studies dissertation; final major project.
