Course Introduction

This LCF exciting new course focuses on creative approaches to innovative cutting, fabric sourcing and digital technologies in the development of structured and unstructured clothing. You will learn about a range of market levels in today's global fashion industry, and you will acquire the skills for design research, design interpretation and three dimensional realisation, presentation, fit alteration, pattern drafting and adaptation, construction and manufacture, fabric sourcing, trend investigation, and market analysis. Broader academic studies will allow you to see your discipline in the wider perspectives of fashion, society and the environment, and you will learn the professional, communication and business skills you will need to succeed. An optional placement year in the industry will give you valuable experience and contacts for your future career. You will be based at Curtain Road in Shoreditch, on the edge of the City of London and very near to Hoxton.

Course Modules

Year 1:Introduction to study in higher education; cut, manufacture, trim; introduction to cultural and historical studies; drape and form; collaborative realisation. Year 2: Cultural and historical studies; digital innovation; research methods; structure and form; professional engagement. Final year: Construction and transformation; contextualising your practice; final major project.
