Mechanical and energy engineering is a brand new degree course, focusing on the principles underlying the generation, delivery and utilization of energy. Level 1 Core: Fundamentals of solid body mechanics; fundamentals of thermofluids; analytical methods and skills; engineering materials and design; energy and electrical power; mechanical and energy engineering labs. Level 2 Core: Solid body mechanics; thermofluids; professional engineering applications and practice; computing, analytical methods, control and instrumentation; conventional and renewable energy systems. Level 3: Optional Work placement (for thick'sandwich mode of study). Level 4 Core: Major individual project; power generation systems and sustainability; FEA, CFD and numerical modelling; professional engineering practice. Level 5 Core: Major group project; strategic management, innovation and enterprise; management of energy engineering systems and economics; advanced thermofluids; advanced heat and mass transfer; solar thermal and electricity systems or wind, tidal, wave, hydroelectricity or geothermal, biomass, waste, hydrogen.
