Make your dreams of writing about film and television or working in the media industries a reality with this innovative course combining theory and practice. The course provides a wide'ranging examination of film and television cultures, considering a variety of approaches and national contexts, and enabling the development of key filmmaking, documentary and screenwriting skills.

Course Modules

Year 1 topics include: approaches to film and television; film and television histories; introduction to American film and television; moving image practice. Year 2 topics include: cinema and television in Europe; representation and identity; exploring film, television and digital practice; recognition of work; contemporary American television; scripting performance for screen; stardom and performance. Year 3 topics include: project (Film and Television Studies); film reception and interpretation; screening America in Hollywood film; constructing reality in film and television; artists' film and video; surrealism and film; from page to performance: stage and screen.
