Course Introduction

This course focuses on contemporary international relations and the understanding of overall global dynamics; its interdisciplinary approach links the study of international politics, international political economy and international public law; international change is also emphasised through the course; the course aims to equip students for analytical research on contemporary structures, processes and factors in international and transnational relations.

Course Modules

Modules include: Theory and research in international relations; the evolution of the modern inter'state system; international relations and the legal regulation of conflict. Optional modules include: Religion in international relations; human security; security studies; European integration; international conflict resolution; ethics in international relations; the new Europe in the new international system.

Course Additional Entry

A 2.2 Honours degree (or above) or better in a relevant discipline is required. Candidates with other relevant qualifications are welcome.
