### Course Introduction

This programme is designed for graduates in mathematics, engineering, or science with a excellent numeracy skills, wishing to pursue careers in the application of mathematics, in traditional areas such as engineering and science and in service areas such as finance and banking, where knowledge of modern applications of mathematics would be advantageous; the philosophy of the programme is to equip students both with mathematics and its applications and with high'level scientific software and associated numerical skills.

### Course Modules

Modules include: Individual project; mathematics and its applications; computational methods; mathematical approaches to risk management; inverse problems; mathematics of complex systems; reliability and optimisation; scientific software design and development; enterprise software engineering development; internet and web technologies; visual interactive programming; advanced algorithms; e'business strategy; actuarial mathematics; financial econometrics; principles and practice of evacuation modelling; principles and practice of fire modelling.

### Course Additional Entry

An Honours degree at 2.1 or equivalent in mathematics, physics, engineering, or a relevant discipline with substantial amount of mathematical and numeracy content. Those who have established commercial or industrial experience in a relevant field can be accepted, subject to interview, references, and recommendation from the programme committee. For applicants whose first language is not English, the minimum level of English is the equivalent to an IELTS score of 6 or for TOEFL iBT a score of 93.
