Course Introduction

The course includes over a 1,000 hours of professional practice and fully prepares students for professional autonomy and excellence in clinical practice. Successful completion provides eligibility to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council and membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. The programme provides students with a strong scientific foundation and encourages students to develop excellent practical and clinical reasoning skills; all of this is essential for students to safely and effectively treat patients.

Course Modules

Modules include: anatomy 1 and 2; rehabilitation 1 and 2; musculoskeletal 1 (the lower quadrant); respiratory; approaches to research; professional development; paediatrics; ageing studies; women's health and men's health; oncology and palliative care; falls services; mental health; clinical placement 1 and 2; clinical preparation; mandatory clinical training; musculoskeletal 1 (the upper quadrant); neurorehabilitation; cardiovascular health; critical care; principles and practice of evidence based healthcare; research dissertation; clinical placement 3, 4 and 5; clinical education.

Course Additional Entry

A UK 1st or 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent internationally recognised qualification with a preference to a science discipline with extensive anatomy and physiology as an integral component (chiropractic, osteopathy and nursing degrees cannot be considered). All applicants must hold a B grade at A'Level (or international equivalent) in biology with evidence of informed insight into the profession of physiotherapy will be considered on an individual basis. Evidence of academic achievement in the last 4 years will be required. Applicants will be required to attend a full day selection day which includes an interview. Please note this programme is not suitable for qualified physiotherapists. English language requirements: IELTS: 7 (min 6.5 writing, 6.5 listening, 6.5 reading, 6.5 speaking); TOEFL Paper test: 600 (TWE 5) PBT; TOEFL Internet test: 100 IBT (reading 20, listening 20, speaking 20, writing 20); Pearson: 64 (58 in all sub'scores); BrunELT: 70 per cent (65 per cent in all areas).
