Course Introduction

This programme covers practical aspects of information systems development, modern management topics and professionalism in IT. If you already have experience of working in the IT industry, the programme aims to provide opportunities for broadening and deepening your knowledge and skills. If you do not have previous experience, the programme aims to provide a platform for a career in the IT industry. You will gain an advanced level of understanding of computers, computing, software development, and how to design and implement software systems. The programme also covers the use of information systems in organisations, and the management of IT and information systems.

Course Modules

Compulsory modules include: information systems; introduction to software development; software engineering in practice. Option modules may include: Computer systems; database management; digital creativity and new media management; fundamentals of computing; information and network security; innovation: management and policy; intellectual capital and competitiveness; internet and web technologies; research methods in management 1; search engines and web navigation; software design and programming; strategic information system planning; strategic management (postgraduate); the creative industries: theory and contexts Dissertation modules (choose 1): MSc information technology Project; MSc computer science.

Course Additional Entry

Second'Class Honours Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a subject other than computing or information systems. Applicants with less than the required level of academic qualification may be considered, if they have significant relevant experience in the IT industry. If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub'tests.
