Course Introduction

The course is designed for students to: research practitioners past and present and form a distinctive view of their position in the discipline; collaborate with other postgraduate student directors, choreographers or other theatre makers to practice and test their abilities to negotiate and communicate at an advanced level; maintain an online research folio to develop a professional shop window for their ideas; to interrogate contemporary scenography through the established modes of industrial practice in set and costume design, though students may also investigate various specialisms in their studies, such as lighting, projection or sound; work closely with a mentor who challenges and advises students throughout the development of their final self'motivated action research project; specialist tutorial and technical support from across Wimbledon's theatre programme, focusing on the production and research in both industrial and academic contexts.

Course Additional Entry

Honours degree in theatre design, costume, set or lighting design, fine or live art, other forms of 3'dimensional visual design or making such architecture; study proposal; portfolio of work; alternative qualifications and experience will also be taken into consideration; IELTS level 6.5 or above if English is not an applicants 1st language, with at least 5.5 in reading, writing, listening and speaking (please check our English language requirements).
