Course Introduction

This course is designed to address the practical, academic and professional needs of contemporary musicians, and welcomes students from all genres. This course provides specialist training for drummers, vocalists, guitarists, bassists and keyboard players that reflects the needs of today's music industry. It combines technical and stylistic performance tuition through one'to'one lessons, as well as group sessions with other students from across the postgraduate community, to ensure an enhanced learning experience and the opportunity to network with like'minded artists.

Course Modules

Modules include: performance portfolio 1 and 2; ensemble and music direction skills; research methods; critical perspectives; dissertation or project; songwriting; studio recording project; or music pedagogy project.

Course Additional Entry

Applicants must have an appropriate undergraduate qualification (e.g. BA (Hons) music (with performance) or a BMus (Hons) performance) with a 2.1 or above; candidates are interviewed and auditioned; equivalent overseas qualifications will be considered; IELTS 6.5 required; candidates are required to submit an example of academic writing and a DVD of 2 performances; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or above, at a minimum of 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components, TOEFL internet'based test 90 or above, Pearson PTE Academic 58 or above, or an equivalent secure English language test.
