Course Introduction

The programme provides students with an advanced critical study of the government and politics of contemporary Britain. It develops the knowledge, techniques, and skills relevant to the interests and research needs of individual students, and equips them for independent research and analysis and for writing at an advanced level.

Course Modules

Modules include: The evolution of British government since 1945; British political history since 1945; plus optional modules: the constitution in crisis; Anglo'American relations; UK government and the constitution: reform and modernisation; history and policy or modules from other courses.

Course Additional Entry

An Honours degree (2.1 or above); or equivalent overseas qualification) in history; politics; or a relevant discipline, e.g. public policy; law; or social science; relevant work experience.
