Course Introduction

This new course has been developed in line with the policies and initiatives of key national bodies, such as Sports Coach UK and Skills Active.It is intended that this new course will match the national occupational standards for sports coaching, developed by Skills Active (the sector skill council for sport and exercise).

Course Modules

Year 1: core studies; physiology and nutrition; kinesiology; fundamentals of performance. Year 2: coaching and analysis of performance; strength and conditioning theory; sports exercise and nutrition; psychology of sports coaching; movement biomechanics and analysis; data analysis and research methods; placement. Year 3: research project; sporting populations and coaching groups; notational and movement analysis; optimising performance; strategic strength and conditioning practices.
