Year 1: (30 credits) Crime and control in social context; explaining crime; skills and methods in criminology and sociology; understanding contemporary society: issues and debates. Year 2: (30 credits) Approaches to research in the social sciences; criminology in late modernity; institutions of criminal justice; youth crime and youth justice. Year 3: (30 credits) Children as victims and offenders; dissertation; drugs, crime and criminal justice; environmental justice and green criminology; gangs and group offending; justice, punishment and human rights; violent crime.
