Course Introduction

This course provides an opportunity for students who already possess a bachelor degree or equivalent level qualification in a healthcare related profession (e.g. GPs, physiotherapists, chiropractors, osteopaths, midwives, nurses, and complementary practitioners including acupuncturists), to gain a professional qualification as practitioners of Chinese herbal medicine. Students study the principles and practice of Chinese herbal medicine, including its history and philosophy, as well as instruction in botany, herbal materia medica and major active components, herbal formulary, and clinical applications of herbal medicines.

Course Modules

Modules include: Principles of complementary health sciences ' chinese herbal medicine; professional development and research; integrated clinical sciences; clinical diagnostics; materia medica; nutrition; clinical practice; clinical herbal medicine; negotiated work based learning project.

Course Additional Entry

Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Applicants holding a qualification as a healthcare professional, will be able to apply for accreditation of prior learning.
