Course Introduction

This course is for individuals working in care of the older person in health and/or social care settings (acute or continuing care settings, statutory, private or voluntary care provision); prisons; government agencies. On successful completion, students will have developed professional accountability in performing and expanding mastery of clinical skills for practice, advances in the field of dementia care and act as a catalyst for innovation, the evidence'base for a range of therapeutic interventions and their application in practice, the socio'political context of dementia care and practice, and the complex range of physical, psychosocial, cultural, legal and ethical issues which impact on families and carer.

Course Modules

Compulsory: Meeting the needs of people with dementia and their carers; delivering evidence based dementia care; practice based learning project.

Course Additional Entry

Post'qualification healthcare professional with 6 months experience as a qualified practitioner.
