Course Introduction

Recognised by CIMA, ACCA and CFA UK, based in the School of Business, Economics and Informatics, the Department of Management is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in teaching, research and consultancy in the broad field of management. Our academic staff are active researchers as well as enthusiastic teachers, and regularly publish cutting'edge articles in the world's leading journals. We have particular research strengths in international business and strategy, the management of innovation and entrepreneurship, human resource management, corporate governance, sport management and marketing, as well as financial management and accounting. We offer students of all ages and backgrounds a chance to study either part'time or full'time in our department and to gain an internationally recognised University of London qualification. You will have access to Moodle, our online learning resource, where all information and materials relating to your programme of study and modules are available. We offer a range of student support and study facilities. Birkbeck is different: classes are in the evening, so you can work, volunteer or do your own thing during the day. Course Modules

Year 1: Data analysis for business; introduction to accounting; management studies; quantitative methods 1. Year 2: Commercial law for business; financial reporting; managerial economics 1 and 2; quantitative methods 2. Year 3: Advanced management accounting; auditing; financial management; taxation. Year 4: Applied financial management; portfolio management; optional modules may include: employment relations and HRM; international business; international finance; management of innovation; marketing principles and practice; marketing strategy; operation management; organisational behaviour; strategic management; other approved business modules offered by the school of business, economics and informatics.
