Course Introduction

This course is designed to be taken by students working primarily as instrumentalists within the music industry; the course is structured to meet a professional performing musician's needs; it furthers students' development of advanced, technically assured and artistically informed performance skills, together with more narrowly defined skills that relate to, and arise directly from, each area of specialist work.

Course Modules

Modules include: instrumental studies or conducting 1 and 2; dissertation; negotiated work'based learning; project. Optional modules include: instrumental studies 1 and 2; postgraduate conducting studies 1 and 2; research methods; composition; performance project; orchestration and arranging; live event management; chamber music project; 2nd study conducting; transcription.

Course Additional Entry

A recognised 1st degree in music or 1st or higher degree in other subjects with relevant musical experience to the required level (diploma level or director of music exams); necessary prior experience to meet the demands of the course; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or above, at a minimum of 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components, TOEFL internet'based test 90 or above, Pearson PTE Academic 58 or above, or an equivalent secure English language test.
