Course Introduction

You will have the chance to study in our state'of'the art, purpose'built facilities, located in the award'winning International Building at the heart of the Egham campus. Course Modules

Multilingual Studies Students take 3 core language course units per year, choosing 3 of the 4 languages offered by the School: French, German, Italian, and Spanish. Visual Arts Year 1: visual arts 1 (an introduction to visual media); a special theme in European culture: the city; the visual image in French culture and society; text and image in the Hispanic world; culture and identity in Latin America; re'mapping the Amexicano border in visual culture; Italian art (Giotto to Arte Povera). Year 2: visual arts 2 (genre and movements); the illustrated text in France; art and culture in renaissance Florence; renaissance transgressions; representations of childhood and youth in modern German culture; 20th'century Mexican visual arts and film; gender and clothing in 20th'century literature and culture. Year 3: placement year. Year 4: dissertation; from aestheticism to the avant'garde; text and image in France (cubism to the present); wanton women (artists and writers of the French avant'garde); Italian fashion and design; representations of slavery in French and francophone culture.
