Course Introduction

Research areas include: determining seabed properties from acoustic backscatter; tracking melt beneath deep crustal intrusions and active volcanoes; using high resolution seismic imaging to better understand the earth; numerical simulations of crater formation with diletancy for analysis of GRAIL data; assessing the landslide tsunami hazard: modelling waves generated by landslides; thermal and chemical structure of the lithosphere using travel times and surface waves; seismic monitoring of heavy oil recovery by steam injection; seismic monitoring of changes in CO2 phase over time during subsurface storage in sandstone reservoirs.
