This LCF course has been developed for a changing industry which demands versatile practitioners with a range of skills and knowledge to approach a wide array of creative initiatives. Graduates from this course will be able to take up these challenges by gaining a strong foundation in visual research and developing the ability to analyse and experiment to achieve innovative creative solutions. The emphasis is on new areas of visual communication with an awareness and analysis of the cultural, global, ethical and technological contexts in which they operate. You will learn about the creation of imagery across media platforms including print publication and online/mobile applications, visual merchandising, time'based media and performance. The course provides you with opportunities for first'hand experience of the industry through project, placements and work experience where possible. You will be based in Lime Grove in Shepherd's Bush, just west of Holland Park and Notting Hill.
Year 1: Introduction to study in higher education (creative direction for fashion); visual communication for fashion; introduction to cultural and historical studies; fashion interfaces (page and screen); fashion spaces. Year 2: Cultural and historical studies option; fashion, brands and audiences; professional development; research methods for creative direction for fashion; future directions. Year 3: Final major project (research and development); cultural and historical studies dissertation; final major project (production and evaluation).
