Course Modules

Year 1: introduction to sport and exercise psychology; mind, body and brain (1); social and developmental psychology (1); research methods (1); career and study skills in the sport sciences; introduction to physiology and fitness assessment; biomechanical analysis of movement; guided study in sport and exercise. Year 2: psychology of peak performance; mind, body and brain (2); personality psychology and abnormal behaviour; social and developmental psychology (2); research methods (2); applied sport and exercise physiology; applied biomechanics. Year 3: extended research project; advanced topics in psychology. Optional modules: exercise and health; guided study in sport and exercise; biomechanics (performance and injury); nutritional and environmental physiology; limitations to performance and training; communication and social interaction; cognition and emotion; health psychology; neuropsychology; positive psychology; the biology and psychology of alcohol misuse.
