The combined honours degree in Korean is designed to provide a comprehensive overview and understanding of Korea and Korean culture by combining instruction in language, literature, and history. At the completion of their studies, students should have a high level of competency in both spoken and written forms of Korean. In addition to thorough training in the language, the degree aims to impart to its students knowledge of Korean traditions and modern Korean society.
Korean Modules include: Elementary Korean; modern Korean culture and society; pre'modern Korean history; mixed script Korean; readings in modern Korean society; modern Korean literature; Korean composition; Korean conversation; Korean art history; history and structure of the Korean language; advanced readings in Korean; Korean art history. Indonesian Modules include: Indonesian language; introduction to South East Asia; South East Asia on film; cultural foundations of Indonesia; Indonesian literature; Indonesia on screen; Jawi and the manuscript tradition; extended essay in South East Asian studies; independent study project in South East Asian studies.
