Course Introduction

Primary Education at St Mary's provides students with a supportive, passionate and caring team of experienced lecturers and tutors who have the time and energy to strive for excellence in the theory and practice of teaching. St Mary's is a renowned institution and has close connections to many leading primary schools in London. We offer fantastic resources and BA ITT students have full access to the new Naylor Library. Primary Education at St Mary's offers a hands'on, approach to teaching, with a friendly and interactive atmosphere. This fully prepares our students for life in the classroom. School experience is an integral part of each year of study. You will spend a minimum of six weeks in school throughout each year where progress is made from teaching small groups of pupils to whole class teaching. Experience will be with Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 classes with placements being organised by the School Partnership Office to ensure that you receive the appropriate level of support and opportunities. There is an increasing international aspect to study in the School of Education. Opportunities to study abroad may be considered.
