Course Introduction

The Petroleum Geoscience and Engineering research section conducts research into reservoir characterisation, fluid flow and geophysics with application to the hydrocarbon industry and geological carbon storage; a major research strength concerns the physics of granular systems and multiphase flow in porous media; a combination of experimental, numerical and theoretical research has laid the foundation for the accurate characterisation of the topology of granular systems and predictive modelling of multiphase flow properties; pore'scale modelling has led to novel insights into a variety of different transport processes, including dispersion, three'phase flow and mass transfer.
