Course Introduction

The course covers major OECD and emerging countries' financial services, including offshore banking and Islamic banking and insurance. Students also develop a critical knowledge and understanding of the core theories and concepts in the field of corporate finance and investment. Students then go onto examine key risks to which banks are exposed, and their measurement and management techniques. They also consider the theoretical background to the regulation of financial services and study the main operations of investment banks.

Course Modules

Modules include: Bank operations and strategy; international financial services; corporate finance; bank financial risk management; investment banking; financial services regulation and compliance; financial engineering; research methods and dissertation. 1 optional module from: Islamic banking and insurance; financial management; international money and finance.

Course Additional Entry

The minimum requirement is a UK degree with 2nd Class Honours or overseas equivalent; relevant work experience is welcomed but is not a requirement; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS of 6.5 overall.
