Course Introduction

This course is for individuals who are keen to make a difference to the arts, heritage and creative industries by developing the appropriate skills and knowledge to inform policy and practice; it has been developed in close consultation with key cultural institutions and professionals to shape a curriculum that responds to the demands of the sector; it allows students to negotiate a course of study to support their own specific career aspirations, within 1 of 3 pathways of study.

Course Modules

Core modules: culture; managing organisations; cultural policy; introduction to research; dissertation. Elective modules: audiences and marketing; digital cultures; evaluation, politics and advocacy; fundraising in and for the cultural sector global cultural industries, ethics and social responsibility; professional placement; public culture: the politics of participation; understanding financial accounts and entrepreneurship; celebrity (sociology); communication, culture and development (sociology); popular music and society (music); international organisations in global politics (international politics).

Course Additional Entry

An Honours degree from a UK university; an Honours degree awarded by the CNAA or an equivalent qualification; applicants not holding an Honours degree or equivalent but with suitable experience and/or professional qualifications may be accepted.
