Course Introduction

This course develops students' critical awareness of current developments and future trends in cryptography and network security. Starting from the mathematical principles behind cryptographic algorithms, focus moves up to secure network protocols. In addition to the core cryptography and networking technologies, the course also covers: dependable and highly available architectures and technologies used to combat threats; from secure authentication mechanisms and firewalls to information policies and user education to combat social engineering and data leakage. Following the 'with management studies' route, students also learn the fundamentals of marketing, finance and/or managing people and organisations.

Course Additional Entry

An Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject; or substantial work experience; applicants whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in reading, listening and speaking.
