Course Introduction

This LCF course prepares you for a career in fashion illustration and related fields through exploring a wide range of traditional and contemporary approaches to drawing and image creation. You will develop your drawing skills and experiment with different media, and learn a wide range of illustrative, graphic and visual communication skills, together with the academic, professional and business skills necessary for success in the contemporary creative industries. The specialist curriculum is underpinned by drawing, enhanced by digital technology, photography, moving image and animation. You will be encouraged to develop your own personal visual language. The course provides you with opportunities for industry experience through live industry projects, placements, work experience and national competitions. You will be based in Lime Grove in Shepherd's Bush, just west of Holland Park and Notting Hill.

Course Modules

Year 1: Introduction to study in higher education (fashion illustration); fashion illustration and drawn images; introduction to cultural and historical studies; cross media narratives; fashion illustration and moving images. Year 2: Cultural and historical studies; the client brief; professional development (fashion illustration); research methods for illustration; creative directions. Year 3: Concept and research development; cultural and historical studies dissertation; final major project for fashion illustration.
