Course Introduction

This course is designed for existing professionals serving both at sea and onshore, and those looking for a career within the maritime and sea transport industries. If you are within the industry, you are likely to already have a responsible sea'going or middle'management position. Alternatively if you are a new entrant, then you are likely to have attained a first degree in a related technical or management subject.

Course Modules

Modules include: Maritime economics and finance; maritime law; maritime operations; maritime management; maritime technology; maritime environmental issues. Optional modules: marketing of marine services; strategic planning for ports and shipping business; security studies, accident investigation and crisis management; ship and marine equipment design; risk management; offshore technology and operations.

Course Additional Entry

A Degree (2.2) in appropriate discipline; Certificate of Competence as Master or Chief Engineer; Class 1 Master Mariner; Class 1 Engineer; Standards of Training Certificates and Watchkeeping Management Level Qualifications, or equivalent, and work experience in the sea transport industry to a reasonable level of responsibility, such as 1st or 2nd Officer, 2nd or 3rd Engineer, or equivalent; HND in appropriate discipline plus relevant professional qualifications and experience; relevant experience and qualifications in the offshore industry to a reasonable level of responsibility; interview may be required.
