Course Introduction

The programme covers a wider range of topics from both applied and discrete mathematics. The student will explore the mathematical techniques that are commonly used to solve problems in the real world, in particular in communication theory and in physics.

Course Modules

Theory of error'correcting codes; advanced cipher systems; main project; applications of field theory; quantum information theory; network algorithms; advanced financial mathematics; combinatorics; computational number theory; complexity theory.

Course Additional Entry

UK Upper Second Class Honours degree (2.1); or equivalent, with mathematics as a main field of study and good marks in relevant courses. English language requirements IELTS 6.5, TOEFL (iBT) 88, or equivalent, for non'native English speaking applicants.
