University of East London

Course Introduction

The programme is for those who want to train to become a professional psychologist. Many students go on to other postgraduate courses in psychology, such as a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. It is also an excellent course for those who want to become a researcher, or to simply use the knowledge and skills gained in another career.

Course Modules

Modules include: Social psychology and CHIPS (conceptual and historical issues in psychology); research methods; cognitive psychology and psychobiology; developmental psychology and personality (individual differences); independent research thesis.

Course Additional Entry

Applicants should possess an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) of at least a 2.2 level. Previous qualifications can be in any discipline and therefore do not need to be in an area of science. (due to professional body regulations, students cannot enter the programme with AP(E)L credits). The option of taking the diploma '(with empirical project)' is only available to those with at least 60 prior credits in psychology. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in writing, speaking, reading and listening (or recognised equivalent).
