Course Modules

Year 1: Anatomy and physiology; psychology; linguistics; phonetics; communication studies; disorders of communication; weekly observation placement. Year 2: Psychology: education, clinical and social; linguistics; phonetics; audiology; education; disorders of communication; medical aspects of disorders of communication; weekly clinical placement. Year 3: Psychology: cognitive and neuropsychology; clinical linguistics; disorders of communication in adult life; medical aspects: paediatrics; geriatrics; neurology; psychiatry; surgery; weekly clinical placement. Year 4: Core subjects: neurological disorders in adults; counselling; options in augmentative and alternative communication; speech therapy with the hearing impaired; cerebral palsy; computer studies; clinical phonetics and adult mental handicap; twice weekly clinical placement.
