Course Introduction

The course provides students with the opportunity to acquire a detailed knowledge and understanding of legal rules relating to dispute resolution. On successful completion of the programme students will have acquired significant research and analytical skills in this area of law.

Course Modules

Modules include: Alternative dispute resolution; arbitration; civil procedure; family mediation; dissertation; legal research theory and methodology. Optional modules: advocacy; civil liberties and human rights; company law; EU competition law; environmental law and regulation; european union environmental law; EU immigration law; evidence and arbitral awards; individual employment law; insolvency law; international economic law; international environmental law and sustainability; international law and economic development; international sale of goods and e'commerce; labour law in the global economy; law of international trade; legal aspects of business finance; migration theory, policy and legal practice; refugee law and forced migration; termination of employment; the single European market; UK immigration law.

Course Additional Entry

An Honours degree in law (usually a 2.2 degree or above), or a joint Honours degree (2.2 or above) where the major component is in law e.g. accounting and law or combined studies; a graduate diploma in law (CPE), legal practice course or bar vocational course; a qualification as a solicitor or barrister; applicants whose 1st law is not English require an IELTS score of 6.5 with at least 5.5 in reading, writing, listening and speaking.
