Course Introduction

The programme teaches students the basic concepts which arise in a broad range of technical and scientific problems and illustrates how these may be applied in a research context to provide powerful solutions.

Course Modules

Core modules: Advanced modelling mathematical techniques; nonlinear systems; operational research; computational and simulation methods; frontiers in mathematical modelling and its applications. Options: Asymptotic methods and boundary layer theory; biomathematics; cosmology; evolutionary game theory and population genetics; financial mathematics; geophysical fluid dynamics; mathematical ecology; quantitative and computational finance; real fluids; traffic flow; waves and wave scattering.

Course Additional Entry

A minimum of an upper 2nd Class Honours degree in a relevant discipline from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard.
