Course Introduction

Advances in the application of computer systems to engineering and commerce have been phenomenal in recent years, in particular the use of computer networks in applications ranging from mobile communications to server clustering in multinational corporations. With computers now an essential part of our lives, the demand and opportunities for those who can design, manage and service computer systems is only going to continue to grow.

Course Modules

Year 1: engineering mathematics and modelling; design and practice; introduction to computer programming and internetworking; principles of computer engineering. Year 2: computer networks; object oriented software for engineers; operating systems and multimedia engineering; engineering software C++; introduction to communication systems and networks; managing the engineering process. Year 3: Optional placement year. Year 4: network technologies and design; advanced computer engineering; project; software engineering; innovation and enterprise; distributed and embedded real'time systems.
