Course Introduction

Designed to respond to concerns that many of the problems of the construction industry result from the lack of good management, this BSc equips you with the tools necessary to manage the changing nature of the industry, with an emphasis on the development of analytical and managerial skills.

Course Modules

Year one: compulsory courses: the construction industry and its management; economics; materials: their use and structural function; computing for the built environment; introduction to the built environment; the production of the built environment; an introduction to management; introduction to law. Year two: compulsory courses: building services engineering I; project management I; law I: quantity surveying and contract procurement; building for a sustainable future; technology studies; economics II; an introduction to marketing. Final year: compulsory courses: building services engineering II; financial management; project management II; dissertation ; project evaluation and development; contract administration and law; organisational management.
