Course Introduction

This course covers the history and development of major psychoanalytic traditions. Students on this course examine the unconscious mind in everyday situations in relation to mental illness.

Course Modules

Modules include: Clinical methodologies; dissertation in psychoanalysis; key theoretical and clinical concepts in psychoanalysis; psychoanalysis, culture and society; the psychoanalytic movement.

Course Additional Entry

Candidates should hold a degree (2.2 or above) or have relevant experience. Applicants with clinical qualifications may be offered direct entry into the 2nd year (part time). Applicants should have competence in English language and grade C GCSE or an equivalent qualification. IELTS 6.5 (with minimum 6.0 in all 4 components) or TOEFL internet based 87 (with at least 21 in listening and writing, 22 in speaking and 23 in reading).
