Course Introduction

During the course you have the chance to gain coaching awards by taking vocational training courses through the Sports Coach UK and national sport governing bodies. The course also enables those that successfully graduate to apply for provisional accreditation via the Register of Exercise Professionals. Further, the course will soon be mapped to elements of the CYQ L2gym instructors award. This will enable you to obtain this award if you are successful in passing the optional CYQ theory examination. You'll undertake practical work in our British Association of Sport and Exercise Science accredited laboratories and any fitness qualifications that you obtain will be accredited to a level on the Register of Exercise Professionals.

Course Modules

Year 1: core sports science; physiology and metabolism; kinesiology; skill development 1. Year 2: laboratory testing and research methods (double module); skill development 2 (double module); biomechanics; social psychology in sport; exercise physiology and metabolism. Year 3: research project (double module); laboratory investigations; clinical and applied biomechanics; ergogenic strategies; skill development 3; group dynamics in sport psychology; physical activity and health.
